DJ Lam seems to be the spearhead on the project.
Creative writing students are artistic with words but I'm not too sure how they would handle the inverted pyramid style.
However, that's probably my bias talking.
I'm a creative writer and visual arts major - and although I'm not looking at doing news pieces or anything, I am looking forward to writing for the paper from the point of view of arts (i.e. movie / book / play reviews; gallery shows / openings; etc.). Opinion pieces also interest me and I'd like to do Q&A format type interviews with Kwantlen teachers / staff - just one on one interviews so that people can get to know them better. The style I'd like to do for those kind of interviews would be like you see in say Entertainment Weekly or other magazines - like this article:
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20007164_20171835_20182949,00.html I also have a lot of experience with DV, and have my own DV camera that I'd like to use for some pieces or helping to record stuff for news pieces that others do work on. So I think there is room for people from all areas and interests to contribute to the publication. It would be great if we had something where there were submissions not just on daily news pieces, but sports, opinions, arts, and even creative submissions - poems, etc. We have a really unique opportunity to create something that is original, fresh and new and I hope we can run with it - turn the world of student publications on its head with something that is interactive, open, informative and fun.
